Changunarayan Temple

Changunarayan which is regarded as the oldest temple of Nepal is supposed to have been constructed in 4^th century. The temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu is listed in World Heritage site. The temple is located at top of the hill, which is surrounded by forest with champak tree and small village. The temple is adorned by some of the best specimen of stone, wood, and metal craft in the valley. The temple built in pagoda style came into existence in lichhavi period. The temple was rebuilt in 1702 after a major fire occurred.

Garuda

The statue of "Garuda"is facing the front side of Temple.Garuda is supposed to be the flying vehicle of Lord Vishnu which has got human face and is a devotee of Lord Vishnu. 

Vishnu Sculpture "Garud Narayan"

The statue of "Garud Narayan" is supposed to have been sculptured in 9th century. This image appears in 10 rupee note. The statue is in north side of the temple.

Vishnu Vikranth

The idol that backs to 7th century is the most powerful form of Lord Vishnu. The statute describes the scene of popular Hindu Myth of Lord Vishnu and his beloved bali raja.

Grace of rice

The white thing in the red circle is supposed the size of single grace of rice. It is believed that in the ancient times single grace of rice used to be enough for a person.

Statue of Bhupalendra Malla

This is the statue of the King Bhupalendra Malla of Kantipur with his wife Bhuwan Lakshmi. Bloody fighting characterized their politics during the 17th century but both were generous when it came to revering the gods. 

Narsimha Vishnu

The seventh century sculpture of Narasimha is half human and half lion form. The sculpture is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, killing the demon king Hiranyakashyap to save his beloved devotee prahalad.

Chinnamasta

Chinnamasta temple is dedicated to chinnamasta devi, who beheaded herself and offered her own to feed the hungry Dakani and varnini.

Vaikuntha Vishnu

The statue of 10 armed "Vaikuntha Vishnu" with laxmi on his lap rides in garuda. The statue was sculptured in 16th century. 

Vishwaroop

Vishwaroop sculpture of 8th century A.D, present vishnu in universal form. 

Sridhar Vishnu

The image of sridhar Vishnu with laxmi and garuda dates back to 7th century. The image is just to the north of main entrance to changu narayan Temple. Vishnu stands on pedestal holding chakra wheel and lotus in his right hand and small mace club and conch shell in left hand.
